Telling the story of Yeovil and South Somerset, CHAC gives you a rare opportunity to go behind the scenes and explore a museum store.
Traditionally Yeovil has had a rich past of industry and has an important role to play in the history of South Somerset. CHAC’s collections reflect this and range from an extensive photo archive, local history, archaeology and even an internationally significant firearms collection.
A collection of football memorabilia relating to the ‘Giant Slayers’, Yeovil Football Club. The club takes its nickname ‘the Glovers’ from the local gloving industry.

CHAC offers guided tours of the facility for small school groups (15 max) and special interest groups. It also provides loans of historical items, costumes and replicas for schools. Please contact CHAC for more information.
CHAC can assist researchers with enquiries about the collection, local history and family history. It has a research room which can be booked by appointment, with items being brought from the stores to be viewed. It also provides an identification service of archaeological items found by the public via the Portable Antiquities Scheme. Please contact CHAC for more information on research.
