Weston Museum tells the fascinating story of Weston-super-Mare and the surrounding area from 400 million years ago to the present day.
The museum celebrates the history of Weston-super-Mare and its surrounding areas from prehistoric times to the present day using the distinctive historic building, the former Weston Gas Light Company, which houses the diverse museum collection of North Somerset Council.
The North Somerset Council museum collection contains around 50,000 individual objects. Together they tell the story of Weston-super-Mare and its surrounding areas from prehistoric times to the present day. The collection divides into the following areas: archaeology; art; costume and textiles; geology; natural history; coins, tokens and medals; and social history.
Our family-friendly museum caters for all ages and through inspiration, learning and enjoyment you can explore our galleries to understand your past and ask questions about the present and future.
